Unprinted White Newsprint (UPW)

Slab sheets of white unprinted newsprint, free from coated mechanical magazine paper (Printed or unprinted) and printed newspapers. Should not contain any woodfree paper either printed or unprinted and should not contain any woody one cuts. Can include unprinted newsprint cut from cores, but cannot contain any core or packaging material.

Moisture levels permitted vary between 10% - 12% and the minimum amount of wires required is three per bale, however this may vary depending on the mill being supplied Please be aware of any non-paper components or any foreign matter in the recovered paper and board which, during processing, may cause damage to paper machines or interruptions to paper production or may reduce the value of the finished product e.g. metal, plastic, glass, textiles, wood, sand, building materials etc.

 

Commonly used for: Can be used in both the manufacture of recycled tissue products that require whiter fibres and can also be used in the manufacture of high quality industrial pulp packaging, that requires the packaging to be a high shade of white such as premium egg boxes, hygiene or pharmaceutical applications.

Highlander tip: Many of the mills who consume this material have basic pulping and cleaning facilities - make sure the material is free from all contaminants, especially string and tape as this foreign matter can cause serious problems to the paper machinery and cause machine downtime.
