Highlander and LAMH Recycle – New baler and the Awards for recycling Excellence!

LAMH Recycle – an approved Highlander Recycling partner and one of our nominated charities – recently attended the Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste management in London with financial support from Highlander, and also extended their partnership contract with the provision and installation of a new baler for the recycling of cardboard, plastics and paper – supplied completely free of charge to LAMH.

LAMH are a local Lanarkshire Charity who’s aim is to provide core, personal and occupational skills development opportunities within a real but supportive work environment for individuals facing a range of “barriers” to employment which they do by providing recycling services to companies and organisations in the locale, with LAMH Recycle becoming a recycling partner of Highlander in 2014. With the provision of a second mill sized baler which was installed in August 2017, this will allow LAMH Recycle to increase their recycling rates, increase revenues through improved commodity values and increase their capacity to provide personal and occupational skills development of their clients through their employability services.

Highlander work very closely with LAMH on both the recycling and employability sides, by providing markets for all paper, card and plastics recycled at LAMH’s operations and by offering employment opportunities to LAMH clients, when vacancies exist at the Highlander Recycling and Destruction centre in East Kilbride.

Highlander look forward to working with LAMH Recycle for many years to come and congratulate Anita and the team for being a finalist in the Awards for excellence in Recycling and Waste Management –  a highly commendable placing given many of the LAMH are volunteer crew members!
